Project Team
Ebba Schmid, Photographer
I really feel that the Other Men Project isn’t mine to own. I just take the photos, the men in the Project are the ones who help make decisions and take it into new directions. I’m more like the stage crew to the entire production; the important people are the ones being photographed.
A little background information on me…
I graduated in 2009 with a B.A. in Visual Arts, concentration in Photography, and a minor Women’s Studies from Chatham University in Pittsburgh, PA. I first started the Other Men Project as a senior research/tutorial for my visual arts degree. It became more important to me, and the men involved, then to just do something for a class grade. So I decided to continue and push it further for the next few years exhibiting/presenting whenever and wherever we can.
I plan to go back to school at some point for an M.F.A. in photography and continue to build on my portraiture/lighting skills.
Luckily, I have a fantastic team of people working along side of me to help mold and create the best possible atmosphere, designs, websites, exhibits and support. I am deeply honored to have them not only supporting me, but the entire Trans Community without question, judgement or negativity. They impress me everyday with their opinions, ideas, abilities and ambition to reach higher goals. The Other Men Project would not be where it is today, or will be tomorrow, if it were not for my team; Michelle Halabura and Maureen Fechik.
I would also like to thank a small group of people who have helped shape the Project (plus they have been forced to listen to me talk non-stop about it for last few years, so it’s the least I could do to acknowledge them); Kristen Lauth Shaeffer, Katie Osborne-Rozgonyi, Lindsey Sipos, Kyla Groat, Chris Belcher and Katelyn Litterer.
