About
We need to remember that the “T” is not silent in LGBTQ. The Trans Community is often neglected, unrepresented, and sometimes ignored completely. However, new positive representations can contribute to breaking down stereotypes, bias, hatred and negative attitudes. With the Other Men Project, we want to create an array of different men to showcase there are no limitations or “cookie-cutter” way of being Transgender. The intention of the Project is to force viewers to look these men square-in-the-eye and count them as human-beings. We also want viewers to question their own bias and stereotypes, and by deliberately ‘queering’ the word, we want you to analyze your perception of categorizing “others.”
A Note from the Curator
The Other Men Project is constantly evolving and the role of curator parallels that movement. From exhibitions to college lectures, the way in which the Project is presented greatly contributes to how it is perceived.
Perception is an especially pertinent aspect with the Project. Ebba, the sole photographer and founder, is not only asking viewers to consider the photographs, but also encourages all to actively take part by being photographed, offer suggestions, or by becoming a part of the network that truly is the cornerstone of the Other Men Project.
The works of art in the Project are not simply a collection, but stand for a growing collective.
